Welcome from the Vice Provost of Research
   Welcome Message from Dr. Murthy
Scientific inquiry, scholarly contributions, creativity, and academic accomplishment can take many forms and may vary among disciplines. All faculty members (Fulltime and Adjunct Faculty), students and staff of our university are ultimately responsible for the scholarly character, accuracy, and reliability of their own research, safeguarding of research subjects and the research environment in which they work pursuant to federal regulations, university policies, funding agency requirements, and contractual commitments.

At Drexel University, the research enterprise itself is changing as science and scholarly activities have risen to unprecedented levels. However, the core values on which our enterprise is based – honesty, skepticism, fairness, collegiality, openness, ethical and responsible conduct of research have remained unchanged. These values practiced by our researchers and research administration have helped us develop a research enterprise of unparalleled productivity and creativity.

The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) provides administrative support to University research community. The ORC staff assists faculty, staff, and students seeking committee approvals to conduct human subject research, animal research and research involving hazarodus materials (biological, chemical and radiation); provides educational programming in support of the responsible conduct of research; and supports the operations of the University’s Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), University Biosafety Committee(UBSC) and Radiation Safety Committees (RSC). ORC encourages our research community to take advantage of these services so that we can work together towards protecting our research subjects.

Sreekant Murthy, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Research Compliance
